While the premise of the room was fun, and we did still enjoy it there were several disappointing factors

1) the room was too dark to see where to input the codes on the locks (this room does allow you to take belongings with you - I would have been lost without the torch on my phone)

2) when at one point we did result in asking for a hint (you press a button to gain a hint - which I do like) it took a long time for for the GM to get back to us and when we completed the room - you find an object rather than the code to get out, he didn't realise for a while - as he said it was only when he saw us all gathered by the door that he realised we were done - I didn't think that I'd be too tall at 5foot 3

3) the room itself has been trashed in the past (torn wallpaper etc) at the end the GM mentioned that a kids party had been in previously and wrecked it (including throwing things at the lights and breaking one - see problem 1) - I can't help but think this is down to problem 2 - they don't keep an eye on you in the same way I've felt other rooms have - where I think had you started to break things they would have been onto you and told you to stop (or kicked you out)

On the plus side - the whole collecting pieces as you solved each lock to enable you to open the final lock was good and unique - and I liked the fact that you did end up having to go back into the first room after you got into the second to get further locks but it was obvious when you had to go back out and that they couldn't be done until you had opened the door to the second room

I see The Wizardโ€™s Study as a solid choice for a day of family fun. Kids especially should get a kick out of being a wizard for the day, and the game is about the right level of challenging with adult supervision.

All-adult groups or enthusiasts might want to consider Hotel Crime Scene or Jumunga for a bit more of a challenge.
