SPIRIT SEEKERS IRELAND:

Episode 2

The Dullahan

Difficulty Level: 2 out of 5 (no jump scares, but the story is creepy)

You are joining paranormal investigators, "Spirit Seekers Ireland", on their investigation of an abandoned village which has apparently been repeatedly visited after dark by a creature from old Irish Folklore: The Dullahan.

The Dullahan was the original "Headless Horseman", and not the cute pumpkin-headed variety from the Disney movie!  The Dullahan is a grotesque and horrible creature who claims souls (kills people).  He carries a whip made from a human spine and he uses it to blind anyone who sees him (gross!).  Can you find a way to rid the village of the Dullahan before he returns at nightfall?

In this game you will visit multiple REAL IRISH LOCATIONS in 360 view!

Each player will need a laptop/pc (we do not recommend using tablets or phones) and a strong internet connection.  Use headphones for the best experience.

You and your friends will enter the virtual ruins and interact with items to solve the puzzles.  You will be able to see your friends' cursors on your screen, you can zoom in, take items, and even move some things around.  Once you have the game link, send it to all of the others players, then login and play when you are all ready!  For players in different location, we recommend also using a video call to chat with your friends while you play.  It takes most people 60-90 minutes to play this game, but your link will stay active for 72 hours,  so you can take a break and come back to it if you need to.

I really liked the atmospheric settings for the various chapters in this game.  The interface worked well, and most of the puzzles were fairly straightforward.  There was one I would never have solved without help (too much ambiguity in the instructions) and one that I'm still not sure how I solved.  But generally a pleasant afternoon's activity, and definitely doable by someone playing solo.

Very slightly creepy, but not much. Great and original idea! If you make a sequel we will absolutely play it!

Protect the village from the evil Dullahan!

We didn't find the story scary at all, but if your kids are very young, they might. You could probably moderate how much you tell them about the soul claiming bad man. The puzzles are not impacted by the scary story, so everyone can be part of them.  We still found it quite family friendly.

We have played all games from Online Escape Rooms Ireland, so of course we would play this as well. Played as a team of two adults, and that is a fine configuration but adding a few kids would also work. Probably not a game for a large group though as there are only a few things to do in each scene (but many scenes). The scenes are real places and have a historical feel, so it was very fun to explore them. The cute pigs were a bonus as well.

We giggled when we were presented with the hint system - a nice quirky touch.

Recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed this game. We had high hopes for it and it certainly didn't disappoint! It was a well laid out game with good music, sound effects & most importantly relevant, fun puzzles and tasks to suit the theme. While the theme may be 'creepy' this room certainly is not 'scary' and therefore I would say it would be suitable for both adults & families alike. Would highly recommend!

A very fun game with very cool real world scenery and environments. The puzzles are fun and not too challenging. Excellent cut scenes and narration. Lot of fun to play and a definite recommend for anyone!

This was unexpectedly immersive!  We have played a few online escape rooms before, but this was totally different.  It was a real journey through a story, and also through Ireland!  The puzzles were medium difficulty, I would say, and we finished a little under an hour.  We loved it, and we plan on playing more games from this company.

At the start, we didn’t know what to make of this game, but it certainly grew on us. It was an interesting story and fascinating to have a virtual tour of a beautiful country (and some pigs made an appearance too). The puzzles were logical and fair, and it had a few surprises to keep us guessing.
We’d recommend this experience for just about anyone but particularly folks who want to engage with beautiful places in Ireland and local Irish folklore through the medium of puzzles. Through brilliant games like this I’m learning more about the folklore of my own near-ancestral home, but I think I’ll probably make my granny shriek if I start talking about dullahan over our next tea party.
