You were driving home late one night and your car broke down. A local nurse named Emily was driving by and offered to take you to use her phone to call for help. After agreeing to go back to her house you quickly realise that she is not as innocent as she first seemed. You try to leave Emily’s house and realise that you have been locked in. You discover you are not her first victim and begin to uncover clues left behind by the author she previously kidnapped. She has trapped you in her home and left to run some errands. You have 60 minutes to escape before you discover how far she will go to keep you here.

broken tech😨creepy

I played this one a few years ago. Nicely themed room with a decent set. Easy to get immersed in the story which was a great thing!

Had to give it a lower star rating because the day we went about 3 or 4 puzzles didn't work and the game master had to keep coming into the room to fix them. Any immersion we had was instantly broken because someone had to keep coming into the room or tell us pin codes which we had already gotten right but were not working. Also we were never able to calculate a proper final time because so many things went wrong on our visit.

I am aware things need to be 'break proof' with so many people visiting all the time but one thing I remember was a clue being engraved on a metal sheet as if being a paper clue. This little detail for me breaks the illusion of the theme and immersion of the room. For me it would be better having paper, printing things on tyvek is a good way to have long lasting paper items. That's the only bad thing I could say that was within their control.

I am sure this was just one of those really unlucky days and all the problems that the room had that day will have been fixed. Great, immersive multi-room experience, some clever puzzles. Just a shame things went wrong on our visit.

Misery was a fun and challenging room. I also stand by my statement that Escape Reality are the most difficult venue in Cardiff. If you’re after a challenge, I highly recommend you pay this room a visit.

If you’re a complete newbie, I’d suggest you either get a few other rooms under your belt first, or team up with folks who have more experience.
