Exciting times are ahead in Tampere, as the Finlayson factory is about to become the first place in the Nordic countries to have electric lighting!

You and a group of esteemed guests have been invited to witness the grand test illumination on March 15, 1882. Upon arrival, you and your companion are hurried to the back of the factory. The assistant engineer informs you that something is amiss – the test bulb won’t ignite, and the project’s chief engineer is missing! The assistant engineer hopes that you can use your expertise to figure out what’s wrong in the dynamo room.

Can you fix the issue and ignite the lighting? Will Tampere become the first city in the Nordic countries to receive electric lighting?

Getaway is a big player in Finland! We played a total of 7 rooms at four different locations with this provider.

Vellamonkatu is in Tampere, which is about a 2-hour drive north of Helsinki. If you go on an escape trip to Finland, plan at least one day for Tampere.

Finalyson’s Electric Light was our Getaway favourite, which also made it to number 2 on the Ranked Playlist Finland.

What’s it all about?

The Finlayson factory in Tampere is set to become the first place in the Nordic countries with electric lighting, and we are invited to witness the historic test. However, upon arrival, we discover that the test bulb won’t ignite and the chief engineer is missing, so it’s up to us to solve the problem in the dynamo room and help make history.

There’s plenty to do in this scenario! The puzzle structure is largely non-linear and requires teamwork at many points. There’s a kind of master plan, which you should take some time to develop, as it helps greatly in understanding the interactions of the individual devices, solving problems, connecting the components correctly, and getting the entire device working again.
