We had high expectations for this but left feeling flat. The theming/set is fantastic. Hosting is really good, although the intro is perhaps longer than it needs to be and had lost us a bit. This wasnât so much a game of finding and solving. Personally we felt it would be more suited to a team of 2 as often there was nothing for the rest to do. The first half of the game was better than the second. And the end we found a bit of an anti-climax

Dark room start without enough torches for the whole team meant that this was a rocky beginning to the room for me. Got better in terms of puzzle and experience, but first impressions matter and I probably didn't enjoy the rest of the room as much as I might have.

A different style of escape room to what we've done before, this room relies more on practical skills than logical puzzle solving. Our host, Sarah, was very good indeed. She was a very believable prison guard in what was a lovely bit of escape room theatre! The room itself was good, albeit a little tired in parts; it felt like a proper prison in that the room could do with a good deep clean and a bit of TLC to restore it to its former glory. Looking past this, the actual content of the room was very good. The theatre element was greatly enjoyed, and the use of space felt very prison break too. The 'puzzles' were well integrated into the prison break style too which added to the immersive feeling of the room. All in all, a good, fun escape room.

Took some friends here for their first ever escape room, and luckily it made a good impression, they both enjoyed it and sounds like they will be doing more. The room is fun with some unique puzzles id not seen before. Great hosting too.

I didnât like writing reviews like this. Iâve been wanting to play this game since talking to someone who had just played back in January 2020. My first two attempts failed as the room wasnât working when we arrived at the venue, this time the room was working but I wish it hadnât been,. Break Free took over the location from Clue HQ over a year ago and weâd played the former A-1-9 some time ago and I noted then how tired the game was.
The game starts with a split start (the GM told us that a previous game had failed to even get out of the cells!). They say this is a hard room and to get out does feature some maths puzzles and I would argue outside knowledge to properly solve what you need to, couple that with a calculator that doesnât work and we were able to get out in just over 20 minutes.
Then into the main room and there was next to no hints where to go next. We made some progress from thorough searching but the sign posting was none existent. This room was incredibly tired, from the clearly no longer used boxes on the wall, to so many things. I canât recommend anyone playing this game in any way, or playing any Break Free games as after my experience here and elsewhere they are running tired, broken games into the ground with little to no thought for the player experience.

Very nicely thought out puzzles in this padlock free room (kudos!). Clear signposting meant that we could connect clues with puzzles and get into the flow. Got a little bit physical at the end, but would be easier for larger teams. Fun!
