Starpoint Alpha's orbit is failing. It is only a matter of time before it will collide with the Earth.
The risk is great, so the Professor has called upon his best team to fix the situation.
Sadly, that team was unavailable.
So it falls to YOU to save Starpoint Alpha!
This is no simple game of escape (after all the only thing outside the door is the void of space!), instead you must take control of the damaged station, reroute power, realign sensor matrices, and so much more. Hopefully, when all is working as it should, you will be able to find a way of evacuating safely.
And then there is the question of what caused the catastrophe in the problem in the first place...
The challenge the Professor tasks you with is tremendous, but we know... think... hope that you're up to the challenge.

hi-techstory-drivenintensequite difficult

Some of the puzzles seemed to take a really long time, even after we knew what to do - bit frustrating. Guess we like the "working it out" part more than the actual admin.

This is a very hard game to review for many aspects

Firstly, this game has 3 outcomes, fail, victory or super victory. This to means seems a way just to get people to class a win rather than fail them and demotivate them. A good idea for newbies but a bit flat for enthusiasts.

Iโ€™ll break this down into sections;

Opening - great idea,  every on theme, a nice added touch of flare but at the same time, very run down and not executed with pizzazz.

Main chamber - clinical looking and very on point. Some good puzzles with perfectly logical puzzles. A very clever and humorous element is combined in here towards the end

Electrical room - very dark at difficult to do anything with hardly any light source. Very over complicated and it felt it little unnecessarily cluttered

Finale - great fun, humorous touch and a great little snowman piece for the ending.

This game had a lot of GM interaction which we are not a fan of (despite it being often funny). Relying on the GM for certain elements is all well and good but it kind of hinders game play. We got stuck with a very ambiguous puzzle towards the end conveniently then had not much help.

This game, personally, will be hit or miss. Very marmite. There are some really good parts to this game though so certainly give it a go

Nice varied sets and some cool tech. Interesting style of puzzles which had the potential to go wrong but some good if a little heavy guidance helped this be a smooth run through a fun game!

I'd heard intriguing though slightly contradictory things about Starpoint Alpha, and it was very high on my list of games to try on a West Midlands trip. Set on a space station, you naturally have an hour to get the station back under control before it falls out of space. Actually, that's not quite true. At the 55 minute mark, whether you've managed to sort out the station or not, you'll need to evacuate via the escape pods. There are therefore two levels of victory, one where you manage to save...

A rough diamond of a game. The set, the mission and, above all, the humour are fantastic. A few too many padlocks, a couple of weak puzzles and, at times, a feeling that I was being walked through the game took the edge off the experience but I'd still thoroughly recommend, especially to enthusiasts.
