One of our fa our it’s rooms we have played due to the mechanics of the room.

This isn’t a spoiler as you’re too in the briefing, however this room does not require you to exit as quickly as possible, although that certainly helps, however your mission is to collect as much gold as possible, and certain items will give you multipliers.

There is a fair bit to do in this room, it’s rather dark and there’s the impending sense of urgency to collect as much as possible.

Some great puzzles and a rather physical room too. We loved it… but as a word of warning… wear old clothes. You will get dirty in the mine

Played: 3 Jul 2021 Team size: 3 Time taken: 55 Outcome: Successful escape!

A very original concept where you’re put inside the mind of the professor.

I do feel that the room lacked some signposting so hints were given frequently to guide us in the right direction. Somethings we would have had no idea about if we werent guided in the right direction. Not through inexperience, but through the design of the room.

That being said, it was an original concept with some good elements so give it a go

This game is something else. Yet again, the Escapologic team have created something truly magical.

From start to finish the immersion was phenomenal.

My only issue is I now don’t know if this or curio is my favourite room.

A true masterpiece that will have you occupying every inch of the room and will keep you going for sure.

Another great room by Cave Escapes.

Loads of things to do, very story driven and immersive.

This room will be a challenge for most so I advise taking as many people as possible.

Loads of different elements and a great little touch of humour and something I haven’t seen before.

You must play 🥰

A great game overall.

Epic setting, amazing GM, awesome puzzles, brilliant theming and a flow that just worked.

This truly is a game not to be missed

If you’re an experienced player I wouldn’t recommend.

The reception area looked like a building site for a start. All the materials and power tools being used for a future game, hopefully one we won’t be playing

The actual room started off in something that cannot be described, part office space, part Grecian ruins and part building yard. No sign posting, broken puzzles, feint markings, unfinished decor… I shan’t continue.

As for puzzles, there is nothing to say. They are on theme and for the most part had no moments that made us go “a-ha”

At the end, the owner asked for feedback but was extremely rude and confrontational, so much so that we ran up the stairs and exited the building. After playing close to 100 rooms, this has easily gone to the bottom and our whole team will endeavour to erase e experience from our memories.

Truly disappointed

The latest game to be launched at Clue HQ and it’s safe to say it’s brilliant.

This has quickly become my fav game at CLUE HQ.

With some clever technology, great story and a few things I’ve not seen before, this room adds to a great lineup of games.

There is a lot to do in this room so don’t be fooled by the starting space. It was frantic and we left sweating. Although fairly linear, there seemed to be something for everyone to do and I don’t feel anyone was standing around.

Fantastic game

Another room being built from the escape franchise and sadly the second in a row that we did not enjoy.

This room has the potential to become something great, however the rooms looks and feels rushed. Paper clues that have been prittsticked to the walls and peeling already, sharpie clues written above keypads, multiple red herrings and nails sticking out of holes that you need to interact with wasn’t our idea of a good time.

Our group of 3 could see what they were trying to achieve, hey the execution for a brand new room was still left to be desired.

Whilst the majority of puzzles were perfectly logical, the GM had to enter to room and break any of the minimal immersion to show us how to finalise the puzzle or what the puzzle had actually solved.

We will say that we fed all of this back and seeing as we were only the 3rd group in, we hope a lot will change by the time you play. (It doesn’t fill us with confidence that the only testing only this was room was done by the staff for training)

Overall, a lacklustre feel to an otherwise good concept

P.s. we don’t know the time we escaped in. The GM didn’t have the timer on screen, didn’t tell us the time and actually had to come in the room to tell us we had escaped

This is a very hard game to review for many aspects

Firstly, this game has 3 outcomes, fail, victory or super victory. This to means seems a way just to get people to class a win rather than fail them and demotivate them. A good idea for newbies but a bit flat for enthusiasts.

I’ll break this down into sections;

Opening - great idea,  every on theme, a nice added touch of flare but at the same time, very run down and not executed with pizzazz.

Main chamber - clinical looking and very on point. Some good puzzles with perfectly logical puzzles. A very clever and humorous element is combined in here towards the end

Electrical room - very dark at difficult to do anything with hardly any light source. Very over complicated and it felt it little unnecessarily cluttered

Finale - great fun, humorous touch and a great little snowman piece for the ending.

This game had a lot of GM interaction which we are not a fan of (despite it being often funny). Relying on the GM for certain elements is all well and good but it kind of hinders game play. We got stuck with a very ambiguous puzzle towards the end conveniently then had not much help.

This game, personally, will be hit or miss. Very marmite. There are some really good parts to this game though so certainly give it a go

Played: 18/10/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 47 Outcome: Successful escape!

A very interesting game with some fairly good scenery and some really good concepts.

The premise of the game is to find the will and then the 5 things in the will. Good idea, however we actually managed to solve 3 puzzles to get 3 items from the will before we even found the will. I think this was the downfall of the room as all the puzzles were logical and good fun, but in the wrong order.

I wouldn’t say to avoid this room as we actually had some good fun in the room. Give it a try... the games master was certainly. A laugh and lots of lovely touches of humour

Played: 11/10/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 65 Outcome: Successful escape!

I don't really know where to start on this on this game.

I guess ill start with first impressions. The opening scene was great with a great special effect (or 2) and moving into the second room was also rather on point on looked great. It was a large space, open game play and clear direction. Some enjoyable puzzles, great tech usage and sense of humour.

That being said, I had to deduct 2 half stars

- I deducted the first half star for consistent theming. This was a room of 2 halves (and a bit extra). Both great theming in their own rights but i felt the theming from the first room was not carried into the second room. Moving from a Mediterranean mine into an Egyptian style tomb was a little erratic

- The finale was a little bit of a let down. Despite great fun in the rooms, the final door opened into another room, we had a quick look around only to come to the realisation that the room we had just moved into was actually just a back office area and wasn't part of the game. No real sense of achievement and we kind of just waited around until the GM master came in to de-brief us.

These are only minor elements and i would still highly recommend playing this game and indeed playing all 3 games at Extremescape

Played: 11/10/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 75 Outcome: Successful escape!

Woah, this room left me feeling out of breath.

There is a fair bit to do in this room and all perfectly akin with the theming.

Let me start with the reason this room lost a star from me. I actually deducted half a star for 2 separate things (but don't ever let this put you off playing, you still MUST)

- There were alot of padlocks in the room with little signposting as to which lock you had just solved so there was alot of trial and error which naturally took a bit of time

-  Some of the puzzles were a little ambiguous. Not in the sense of how to solve them, but how to execute them. For example, if you're playing a game of monopoly, you are shown which way round the board rather than being left to guess. Again, this was only a minor frustration as it just meant a little more trial and error

Now on to why I say i was out of breath. Towards the end (I don't recall when it happened but I remember the feeling of it), the music and soundtrack was ramped up considerably, creating a widespread panic through our team and motivated us to push on harder and faster. a great little touch but it really added to the experience.

Do no miss this game, give it a go

Played: 11/10/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 53 Outcome: Successful escape!

Absolutely incredible.

These guys have taken a rather small space and created something I've never seen before.

I'm not usually a fan of single rooms, however they have managed a create a room that makes it feel like you've played through multiple different spaces. Some great tech and awesome wizardry left us with our jaws on the flaw.

This isn't just an escape room, its an ESCAPE EXPERIENCE

Great Job (And the owners and GM were second to none, really makes all the difference)

Played: 27/09/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 65 Outcome: Successful escape!

Great room.

Good theming and puzzles on point. There’s a lot to do and get you started in this room, but the great thing is that they take the time to explain some of the puzzles at the end which are all relevant to the actual story of the real titanic. They have used this escape room as an educational piece and it’s done brilliantly.

It’s certainly a room not to be missed and I would explore everyone to pop along and give it ago

Played: 27/09/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 55 Outcome: Successful escape!

Theming was incredible and really took you on an adventure. It’s not often in an escape room you’re encouraged to climb, but what sort of temple raider would you be if you didn’t.

Transitions between certain rooms was really clever and there was an element that gave real panic (when you realise the room is considerably smaller than when you entered soon gives you a push

The only draw backs were there were a fair few GM activated props, however they seemed to be on the ball

Played: 19/09/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 57 Outcome: Successful escape!

This room is UNMISSABLE

it's very difficult to say anything about this room without giving spoilers, however it is a room that has one element that i doubt you will ever find again in any other room.

The way i described this room was like "A real life version of the mobile app, THE ROOM". If anyone has played them games, then this is as close as you will ever get to being in the real thing.

I cannot say enough about how good this room actually is

Played: 19/09/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 31 Outcome: Successful escape!

A really fun room with some original ideas. just lacking in content for our liking. We also felt the story line came to a very unsatisfying conclusion and the ah-ha moment at the end was totally lost

Played: 19/09/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 45 Outcome: Successful escape!

a really nice looking room (not literally), some ingenious puzzles, great concepts and a great clue system. Really on theme all the way through

Played: 19/09/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 37 Outcome: Successful escape!

Incredible room!!!!!

some very inventive puzzles, excellent theming and one of a kind concepts to move from one space to another. utilised the building and the space very well and easily now in my top 5

Played: 15/09/2020 Team size: 4 Time taken: 50 Outcome: Successful escape!

A great concept, good looking and on theme.

sadly on the day we visited, there were no less than 3 reset errors which the game master then came into room and told us to put things back as we shouldnt have access to them yet. this is the worst thing that can happen in escape room, especially one that is supposed to be so immersive.

Some fairly good puzzles, and some that had no logical rhyme or reason. when asking about the final puzzle, the games master didnt have a clue how to solve it.

it looks and feels like this brand just dont care about their rooms

Played: 15/09/2020 Team size: 4 Time taken: 33 Outcome: Successful escape!

A good looking game but sadly let down by ALOT of broken props

Played: 14/08/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 55 Outcome: Successful escape!

If you have previously read my of Blackbeard's Treasure at this venue, then you will know that this is the game we were offered to play for free after the disaster that was "That" room. If you haven't read it yet, go read it now and then come back here.

So as you can imagine, my first impression of the company wasn't great in anyway shape or form, however we were pleasantly surprised with this room and they certainly have won us back.

This room was fairly challenging, having to use a lot of logic and everything was perfectly on theme.

We did need a few gentle nudges in the right direction but with a little nudge in the right direction, we were soon back on track and our GM was really great at delivering clues. I would certainly recommend this room due to the teeming, decor and puzzle ingenuity

Played: 14/08/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 51 Outcome: Successful escape!

Well i just know where to start. Im not sure if i nearly walked out of this room due to the room itself or due to the Game Master operating the game. Perhaps a bit of both

On first impressions, the theming and decor of the room was great. Lots to look at, some puzzles immediately available and a great sized space. After about 20 mins of progress we got to a sticking point. We knew exactly what we had to do but we couldnt execute it. Sadly, it was an Aural puzzle and both me and my teammate are tone deaf so we literally had not a hope in hells chance of ever being able to complete it. The games Master saw us struggling for several minutes and then asked if we wanted a clue. we said yes and she started waffling on about another puzzle that wasn't related and didn't need solving yet.

15 minutes later she is still on the intercom trying to give us clues but quite frankly, they were abysmal. Tried telling us there were 3 notes only we needed, turns out there were 5. She even tried walking us through it by telling us to start with the 4th. turned out to be the 8th. She gave us 12 instructions, turns out only needed 7. If you are not able to complete sound based puzzles, then you're sc**wed in this room, especially if you have a Games Master that clearly hasn't got a clue.

As for the room itself, so many props were damaged or broken. I know that a sinking pirate ship is not going to be perfect, but when there is a difference between being with the theme or plain broken then there is an issue.

At the end of the room (thankfully we got out without walking out) i told the GM about things being broken. I even took a supposed "fixed" item to show her and was greeted with her response of "well thats your opinion". Clearly not when im holding the prop in question.

I would not recommend this room

**DISCLAIMER - The assistant manager overheard our displeasure after the game, apologised on behalf of the GM (who we found out is actually leaving, and offered us to play another room Free of Charge, of which we found to be a good room. See my review of Our Finest Hour***

Played: 14/08/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 34:00 Outcome: Successful escape!

This one is difficult to rate without spoilers so if you'd prefer to know NOTHING about this room please skip. If you are happy to know if it is a multi room or a single room then please feel free to continue

So this is a game of three parts in so many different aspects

The first part of this room was incredible and would be rated a solid 4/4.5 out of 5. The theming was great, teamwork required, and lots of "magic" involved. a few signposting issues brought the rationing down slightly, but overall a great nod to the Harry potter Franchise (even if t times it did get very close to breaching copyright)

Part 2 of the game was a massive let down. The theming was somewhat absent and puzzles were placed in the part for the sake of puzzles, all of which were nonsensical. We also encountered several bad tech flaws enabling us to solve several puzzles without actually solving them. this part of the game i would rate it a 2 out of 5

The final part of the game was magical. Extremely beautiful in its design but we were saddened to see this part of the room only utilised for a VERY small length of time. There is so much they could have done with this area and could really have heightened the experience

All in all, it was a fun room

Played: 14/08/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 53:00 Outcome: Successful escape!

What a great game by Grand Escape.

Each room they produce seems to get better and better

This is one of them rooms that has not a single padlock and everything happens with an interaction

However, in this room, we came across, not one but TWO puzzle ideas we have NEVER seen in any room and they were great.

The level of detail in this room was great and i cannot recommend it highly enough

Played: 24/07/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 52.20 Outcome: Successful escape!

Now where to start...

Entering the room was refreshing as you enter through a magic painting rather than through a standard doorway so the theming was on point right from the very start.

Spoiler Alert

This room does not contain any form of padlocks and as you can imagine, everything happens as if by magic. That being said, we did find that some of the puzzles are actually actioned by the game master so some actions may be delayed after you think you've completed the right thing.

This game isn't open and it isn't linear, its very hard to describe. We found that we got our starting point, completed a series of linear puzzles and then had to stop and find another starting point again and this seemed to be the case throughout. A lot of hints were needed here as there was no room feedback or signposting to guide us in the right direction and a lot of it was game master driven.

A Great room in terms of theming and puzzles (when you got into it) and i would certainly recommend it

Played: 24/07/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 44.26 Outcome: Successful escape!

Do not be fooled. This room is rated 3/5 difficulty and posed as one of the easiest games on their website, however it was not easy by any stretch of the imagine. This room has LOADS to do.

Some rooms have a great mixture of math puzzles log puzzles, obvservation, physical puzzles etc. Cursed Carnival is very VERY padlock heavy (which we dont actually mind) and involves a lot of searching, (something else we dont actually mind)

Its greatly on theme throughout and the puzzles are perfectly logical. This actually turned out to be our favourite room of 4 that we played in one day (disturbed, dark magic and excalibur being the others)

Some people may be put off by the theme, however its purely there for theming and storyline, and not scary at all so perfectly suitable for all

Played: 24/07/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 52.13 Outcome: Successful escape!

A game of 2 halves, both with very different concepts.

The start of this game begins when you start ascending the tower, even the entrance and staircase were all greatly on theme

The first half of this game will see you flying through a variety of quick wins and working with each other whereas the second larger part of the game threw some very clunky puzzles our way with not much signposting.

One of my biggest bug bears if games are when one particular clue happens to be nowhere near the area you're currently playing and sadly this is one of them games.

Its a beautiful set design with so much potential, it jut feels the designers got bored as they start progressing throughout the game. Certainly worth playing

Played: 24/07/2020 Team size: 2 Time taken: 58.14 Outcome: Successful escape!

A fun yet challenging game.

The first part of this game has some very bland decor, expanding into something a lot better as the game progresses.

This is one of them games that had a few complex puzzles that you know how to solve, but simply struggle with with executing them. If you are not very good at this type of puzzle, you're stuck and cannot progress

Some good puzzles and some to trip you up but with a go

Played: 04/03/2020 Team size: 3 Time taken: 57:17 Outcome: Successful escape!

IM not really sure what other words can be used to describe this room. INCREDIBLE.

Some Escape rooms have different formats...

1) Get out as quick as you can

2) Spend the full 60 minutes but get as much loot as you can

I say this because this room combines multiple different elements, a traditional escape setting followed by a frantic free for all. But on top of that, having to judge the time because you still need enough allowance to actually escape.

I was physically out of breath after completing the room because there is SOOOOO much to do and you need to get as much as you can. a team of 8 would not be able to complete everything in this room so bear this in mind when you play. It has total replayability

The puzzles were great, logical and varied. they covered something for everyone. Logic, Math, word, physical, observation, hidden secrets, technological. you name it, it was there.
