Mr Copplestone aka “The Professor” is an inventor. His greatest invention is the world’s first time machine, built so he could travel through space and time to find interesting objects and life saving potions to sell in his curiosity shoppe.
The time machine is powered by Time Echo Crystals, these crystals are rare and only a small quantity exist in the world. Without them the time machine won't work.
Such a precious commodity must be stored & guarded carefully to ensure the future of time travel can continue. There's just one problem with that - Mr Copplestone!
He may be a genius, but he's the most forgetful man you could ever meet. This morning when he opened his box of Time Echo Crystals he found only one left inside, where could he have put them?
Mr Copplestone and his wife Margaret live on Chapel Street in the year 1873. We can't rely on Mr Copplestone finding the missing crystals alone so if you're brave enough to jump into his time machine and use the last remaining crystal we have to head to 1873 you could save the future of time travel.
. However the time entry vortex is weak and can only stay open for one hour, get back inside before it closes and bring any crystals you find with you so we can keep them safe back in the future ready for our next time travelling adventure.

Absolutely amazing escape 'room' - room doesn't do it justice as it's so much more. Actually took my breath away when we entered the game room. Fantastic puzzles and lots to do - very clever, original concept and I look foward to going back! It's a true labour of love for the hosts and they were fantastic - favourite experience of escape rooms to date!
Fantastic game with non-stop action and superb puzzles. Set design was spot on and our host Elaine was super friendly and gave helpful nudges when needed. Perhaps wish it was less padlock heavy but generally you knew which puzzle related to which padlock and all the puzzles were great fun, clever, and well signposted. Otherwise can't fault the room; it's amazing and absolutely worth playing.
Flawless. The most beautiful, immersive and well-constructed game we have ever played, with incredible hosting to boot. This is the gold standard of escape rooms.
Everything about this room is breathtaking. By far the most immersive game I've played thus far - on stepping into the set I was genuinely awestruck by the scale, detail, and depth they've managed to achieve. The first escape room I've played where I genuinely felt transported elsewhere and like I absolutely had to see everything there was to see.
The room is full of puzzles, of varying levels of difficulty, so there's more than enough to keep a team going for the whole hour, which will in fact pass by like it's 5 minutes. It's just so cleverly designed, the hosting was enthusiastic and friendly, it's not hard to see just how much they care about creating an incredible experience. An immense room, I can't wait to come back!
The idea of puzzle quests has grown considerably with “Daylight Robbery” at Cryptology and “UI-55” at Compendium. This is a similar idea where you have a considerable number of puzzles to solve in order to find time crystals. The setting is amazing and reminiscent of “Loot the Lanes”, the more crystals you find then other shops open up to you. Not all shops will as the overall game will change every so often almost guaranteeing repeat visits (I know I will). A massive range of puzzles from obvious searches to cunning logic puzzles, audio driven ones and observational.
This game should not be missed!
Loved loved loved this game. Looks beautiful, lovely owners, great game hosting - so much to do. Outstanding.
This game is flawless. It's got a set like nothing I've ever seen. Honestly the less I tell you the better.
This game is immense. I loved every single minute of it and did not want to leave.
Great for beginners and enthusiastic alike due to the concept of the game. All teams will escape but how many gems will you escape with?
Great level of challenge. Very immersive and a whole lot of fun.
I thoroughly recommend any team to go play this game as it is one of the most in the UK!
This was my 95th escape room and it was so good that it has motivated me to finally set up an account on Escape The Review so I can rave about it!
Friendly and welcoming hosts who clearly have a passion to deliver the best possible escape room experience.
The room itself? Just wow. A huge variety of puzzles, enough to keep two experienced puzzlers busy for a full hour, the Curiosity Shoppe is beautiful, funny and clever. The theming is superb and after an hour we were still left wanting more.
Can’t wait to go back when the second room in their Chapelgate Mysteries series is open…
Had an absolute blast here. There is so much to do in this room that none of us stopped throughout the whole game.
The set design was incredible and gave some incredible immersion.
Our host made it even more memorable and a total pleasure
Do not miss this game
My new favourite room! Unbelievable theming and awesome gameplay. Escaped with 27 crystals!
Finally made it to Escape Quest after hearing about it for several years and we were not disappointed! A brilliant company with enthusiastic and friendly owners. We loved this game, it was a lot of work and fun for a team of 2 but it was 60 minutes of joy.
What a quality game. So much to do to keep us going throughout the entire game. The set was incredible, and you can see the love that went into the game. We can't wait to get back to the other game!
Great value for money and lovely hosts!
A MUST DO ROOM! Amazing
Fantastic game - Everything about this game ticks every box! Unmissable.
Its an amazing game - Can't say too much without spoiling it! There's a reason this game has a reputation.
By far the best room we have ever played.
Theres not many words i can use as i want everyone to go and try this room.
Mike and Elaine are amazing and the room is a credit to them.
Amazing game with amazing theming and a wide range of puzzles
Got 27 crystals and we were working flat out for the whole time!
I absolutely loved this game, from the mythology underpinning the game to the detail in the build this is a beautifully created world which tantalises you with the potential of future games whilst dazzling you with the sheer amount of quality puzzling and solving to be had.
Its an epic puzzle fix, I grinned for the entire hour. Already looking forward to the next room.
The first game in the Chapelgate Mysteries series does not disappoint! An absolute puzzle heaven inside, so much to do that it’s overwhelming but in the best possible way. Decor is brilliant, with a lot of stuff made in-house, creates a really immersive environment. Story is excellent, hosting even better. This will not disappoint!
Our first ever escape room and what an introduction it was. Only after completing many rooms after this one do we appreciate how good this quest was.
A great expansive setting where you can see the love that has been put into every detail, nothing seems out of place and all the puzzles fit the room nicely.
A must visit for anyone.

Wow what an experience this was, from the moment you enter the building! We came as a group of 4, and as we usually play as a 2 I am SO glad we did! There are so many puzzles to solve here, we managed to get out with 22 crystals, but will come back next year and attempt to do better! The decoration of this experience is beautiful and extremely immersive, you forget where you are. Even though there were 4 of us, we all left feeling like we had solved a multitude of puzzles. Massive recommend! Top 2 out of 40 or so rooms.

Escape Quest in Macclesfield was one of the first operators in the UK. Mr Copplestone’s Curriosity Shoppe is quite a unique and challenging scenario for up to 10(!) people. I would recommend three to five players.
I particularly liked the game concept where all teams, regardless of experience level, are fully engaged for the entire 60 minutes. Given the non-linear puzzle structure, this applies to every single player! Puzzle lovers will get their money’s worth here.
