Once again DarkMasters have knocked it out the park. With a premise that tugs on the imagination so much as 'shrunken inside a toy shop', the attention to detail and set design really does it justice. The set is huge, and the amount of puzzles within also staggering. So many wow moments and genuine surprises. Lastly, the finale will always stick in my mind as one of the most fun and creative escapes I've come across. This is a must-do room for sure!
*We attempted it as a two (100+ rooms each), with a strong disclaimer from the owners that it was a challenging 90 minute room, and even experienced teams of two don't often succeed within the 90 minutes. It took us 94 mins, the GM very kindly let us finish. I'm not writing this as a warning, more an advertisement for any enthusiast that needs a real challenge. Some rooms that bill as 90 minutes are just 60 minute rooms in disguise, this very much is not and I was buzzing with the challenge.*

broken techpoor hosting
Just a heads up to anyone thinking of playing Poppa Plocks's Wonky Workshop at Houdini's Southampton. We left feeling very disappointed with both the hosting and the quality of the room, multiple puzzles were broken and required GM intervention to navigate, when queried about this the response was an unsatisfactory 'hahah yeah that happens a lot'. Begs the question why not fix it?
The general layout of the room felt very 'stuff in a room', with the leftover wallpaper from the previous room that occupied the space left in, this is very unlike what I know of Houdini's normal standard with the likes of Titanic and Extinction.
I've tried very hard not to make this sound defamatory but more just a word of caution since the reviews documented are very strong and this led us to choose to do the room, however those reviews are almost exclusively leftover from when the room was at its original company in London, it seems the relocation to Houdini's hasn't been kind to it.
This room has made me doubt every other 5 star I've given out previously. Out of 70 odd rooms this was the most fun I've had in an escape room. The transitions were incredibly impressive and the size and usage of the game space is particularly special. Not one to be missed at all.
